Thank a Local Pharmacist Day

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, has paid tribute to pharmacists and pharmacy staff on Thank Your Pharmacy Day 2025, acknowledging their hard work and dedication in keeping our community healthy.

Earlier this week Mr Coure visited Galluzzo’s Pharmacy in Riverwood with Shadow Minister for Health, Kellie Sloane, which has been serving locals for an incredible 67 years. They took the opportunity to personally thank the team for their ongoing commitment to providing quality healthcare and advice.

“Galluzzo’s Pharmacy has been a trusted name in Riverwood for generations. For more than six decades, they have been there for local families, offering not just medications but expert advice, support, and a personal touch that makes all the difference.” Mr Coure said.

Mr Coure highlighted the vital role pharmacists play in the healthcare system, particularly in recent years during the pandemic.

“Pharmacists are often the first point of contact when people need medical advice, whether it’s managing prescriptions, getting vaccinated, or seeking guidance on minor health concerns.” Mr Coure said.

“Throughout the pandemic and beyond, our local pharmacists have stepped up, working long hours, seven days a week to ensure people have access to the care they need.”

“The average Australian visits their local pharmacy 18 times each year.”

Galluzzo’s Pharmacy has been a staple of the Riverwood community, earning the trust of locals through its friendly service and unwavering dedication.

“I want to thank all our pharmacists and their teams for their hard work, professionalism, and the vital role they play in our health system.” Mr Coure said.

“Pharmacy Day is a great reminder to support our local pharmacies and acknowledge the incredible contribution they make to our daily lives.”

“Whether it’s a thank you, a friendly smile, or continuing to support local businesses like Galluzzo’s, let’s make sure our pharmacists know just how valued they are.”

Galluzzo’s Pharmacy is a family-owned business started in 1957 by Tony Galluzzo, he was joined by his nephew Sam in 1975 who recently passed away.

Sam’s son Ben joined the team as a pharmacist and manager in 2015 and they employ over 40 people from the area and have strong ties to the community. Apart from prescriptions, they offer a range of health services, medications and dose aids, free delivery 5 days a week, and professional advice.
