Supporting multicultural communities across the St George region

As part of the second round of the Empowering and Supporting Local Communities Grants Program, a total of six local organisations have received funding to further support our local multicultural communities.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, said that over $106,000 is being provided to local organisations as part of the program.

“The Empowering and Supporting Local Communities Grants Program is providing important funding that will support volunteers and community organisations both now and into the future,” Mr Coure said.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, these organisations have worked tirelessly to support our multicultural communities to ensure that they have all of the information and resources that they need.”

Local organisations receiving funding include:

  • 2Connect Youth & Community - $23,000
  • CASS Care - $22,130
  • Australian Macedonian Welfare & Wellbeing NSW - $20,000
  • The Kogarah Storehouse - $16,863
  • Mongolian Youth Federation - $14,100
  • SHARE Hurstville - $10,000

“These projects will provide further support for our multicultural communities as we continue to see COVID-19 restrictions ease across the State.”

Minister for Multiculturalism, Natalie Ward, said 85 grassroots community projects worth more than $1.8 million have been funded under the latest round of the Multicultural NSW Empowering and Supporting Local Communities Grants Program.

“This funding is on top of more than $3.4 million invested in the first round of this program prioritising communities in the former highly affected local government areas of concern during the Delta outbreak,” Minister Ward said.

“We are providing funding to the organisations who know their communities best and are best placed to address their needs on the ground.”
