Stage 3 of St George Hospital Redevelopment Underway

I was thrilled to see that construction on Stage 3 of the St George Hospital redevelopment is well underway!

NSW Liberal Leader, Mark Speakman and I recently saw first-hand the foundations of what will be a massive increase in capability and capacity for St George Hospital.

This $411 million third stage of the $740 million St George Hospital redevelopment will see the construction of an Ambulatory Care Building, Aged Care Unit and new Acute Brain Injury Unit, providing additional inpatient beds.

The redevelopment will also include:

  • Outpatient, ambulatory and integrated care services
  • Pathology specimen collection
  • New day rehabilitation unit
  • Increased sub-acute and rehabilitation inpatient beds
  • Sub-acute aged care unit
  • Behavioural management unit
  • Acquired brain injury unit
  • Palliative care
  • Surgical services with refurbished operating theatres
  • Enhanced diagnostic imaging (medical imaging and nuclear medicine)
  • New Clinical Skills Centre.

The Stage 3 Redevelopment will complement the previously completed Emergency Department, eight-level Acute Services Building and upgraded Birthing Suite and Operating Theatre redevelopment.

The St George Hospital Redevelopment project received a $26 million funding boost in the 2022-23 State Budget for additional on-site car parking to improve access, bringing the total Stage 3 funding commitment to $411 million.

I am so excited to see this upgrade take place funded under the NSW Liberals.

This is massive win for the community and I look forward to keeping you updated on its progress.
