Member for Oatley Mark Coure MP is calling on residents in the St George area to nominate local seniors, who make a positive impact in the community, for a 2018 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Award.
Mr Coure said the awards are a wonderful way to showcase the talents and contributions of seniors living in the local area, as part of the special 60th Anniversary celebrations of the popular NSW Seniors Festival.
“Seniors make a real difference to local families, recreational groups, businesses and organisations, and we want to celebrate them,” Mr Coure said.
“I am sure everyone in the Oatley electorate knows an older person who deserves to be recognised, so I encourage you to nominate them and show them how much they are appreciated for all they do.”
Minister for Ageing, Tanya Davies MP urged all members of the public to take this opportunity to celebrate the older people in their lives.
“Seniors have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer, and they continue to make significant contributions to communities across NSW,” Mrs Davies said.
“The NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Awards are a special way in which every community can thank local seniors for their hard work, skills and generosity.”
Nominations for the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Awards are now open and close at 5pm on Friday, 30 March 2018. The award ceremony will be held on Friday, 13 April from 12pm – 1pm at Mortdale RSL and Community Club.
