New Police Officers for the Bankstown region

5 new probationary constables will begin their careers at the Bankstown Police Area Command.

The NSW Police Force welcomed 193 new police officers at an attestation at the Goulburn Police Academy in front of recently appointed NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure said, that he was excited to see these new police officers hit the streets and grateful for their decision to serve the community.

“I want to congratulate these new police recruits on completing their training successfully and wish them the best as they undertake the noble career of protecting and serving the community,” Mr Coure said.

“The NSW Police force is one of the most respected and most capable police forces in the world and I am sure that these new police officers will continue to uphold that tradition.”

Deputy Premier and Minister for Police, Paul Toole, also congratulated the newest recruits at the attestation ceremony in Goulburn.

“Police officers on the frontline serve and protect our communities right across the state every day,” Minister Toole said.

“We don’t often see a major event or emergency without also seeing the men and women in blue on the ground doing what they can, whether it’s responding to a natural disaster like the current flooding crisis, a car accident or a public protest or major event.”

Class 351 includes 133 men and 60 women. Some recruits entered the NSW Police Academy straight from school or university, while others left established professional careers and trades.

The new recruits come from a diverse range of backgrounds. 14 recruits were born overseas in countries, including China, Portugal, Serbia and Kuwait. 9 new recruits are Indigenous with 4 recruits coming through the Indigenous Police Recruit Our Way Delivery program.

After 8 months of comprehensive and intensive foundational training the new probationary constables will begin their work in the Bankstown area from this week.
