Massive funding boost for local sporting facilities

Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres and Member for Oatley Mark Coure today announced $50,000 in funding for local sports clubs and community initiatives across the Oatley electorate.

Mr Ayres and Mr Coure today visited Hurstville Croquet Club to officially announce $8,500 for the installation of new storage sheds, one of the ten successful groups who will receive funding under this year’s NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.

Mr Coure said sport was the lifeblood of the St George area and investment in local sport was an important focus for the community.

“It’s great to be able to show the Minister one of the fantastic sporting clubs in the district, and I am proud that the NSW Government is assisting our local area in ensuring the ongoing involvement in sport,” Mr Coure said.

Minister Ayres said he was pleased to see a variety of sports benefiting from NSW government grounds across the Oatley electorate.

“The NSW government is committed to supporting grassroots sport and improving participation rates across the state,” Mr Ayres said.

Mr Gordon Geraghty, President of the Hurstville Croquet Club, welcomed the funding when he gave Mr Ayres and Mr Coure a tour of the club facilities, and demonstrated how the Club will spend the funding.

“The installation of new storage sheds will immensely benefit the Club, and I am extremely grateful for the Government’s support for this project,” Mr Geraghty said.
