Mark Coure responds to Labor Budget with plan to get NSW back on track

Together with the Liberal Leader, Kellie Sloane, Member for Oatley, Mark Coure has announced a plan to get NSW back to the top of the pack.

It comes after the NSW Labor Government's latest Budget was handed down on Tuesday 23 June, with Mr Coure saying it leaves local residents once again feeling ignored and overlooked.

"For the fourth year in a row, there has been no new investment in our local area,” Mr Coure said.

“We haven’t seen any upgrades to local schools and we’ve received no funding for St George Hospital, the Oatley-Como Walkway and Cycleway or upgrades to Evatt Park and Salt Pan Creek.”

“Perhaps worst of all, families across our community are paying the price for Labor's poor economic management, working harder than ever but finding it harder to get ahead.”

“That is why today, we have announced a practical plan to help families get ahead and stay ahead, support businesses to grow and create jobs, and build a stronger future for our state."

A Sloane Liberal and Nationals Government will deliver practical cost of living relief by:

  • Introducing a $100 car registration rebate in 2027.
  • Putting downward pressure on household and business power bills by increasing energy supply, improving energy security and generating more power closer to where it is used, reducing reliance on costly transmission infrastructure.

The NSW Liberals and Nationals also have a plan to get the economy growing again by creating the most competitive payroll tax regime of any Australian state by:

  • Raising the annual payroll tax threshold from $1.2 million to $1.5 million.
  • Lowering the payroll tax rate from 5.45 per cent to 4.75 per cent for businesses with a total Australian payroll below $10 million.
  • Introducing CPI indexation to both thresholds to eliminate bracket creep.

To ensure New South Wales has the infrastructure needed for a growing population, a Sloane Liberal and Nationals Government will:

  • Negotiate a new Western Sydney City Deal.
  • Continue building Metros by progressing a Metro for South Western Sydney.

"We will address cost-of-living pressures on families, boost housing supply by cutting red tape, support small and medium businesses, strengthen frontline services and deliver the infrastructure a growing NSW needs."

“This plan will help families get ahead and stay ahead.”
