Local Schools win in the Community Building Partnership Grant

The electorate of Oatley has today secured $300,000 in funding for 13 local projects through the NSW Government’s 2020 Community Building Partnership Program.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, said the State Government funds will deliver much-needed improvements to local schools throughout the region.

“This is outstanding news for a number of local schools within our community as they are receiving a range of upgrades to ensure our children have the best possible amenities,” Mr Coure said.

One major project praised by the NSW Government is the lighting upgrades at Carinya Public School which will also allow the Oatley Football Club to train at these facilities.

“These upgrades allow students and external community members to access the field at night to increase our sport and recreation options within the area,” Mr Coure said.

The full list of successful projects in the Oatley electorate for the 2020 round are:

· Peakhurst Public School (Support unit playground)

· Learning Links (Kitchen, carpet and acoustic upgrades)

· Peakhurst West Public School (COLA refurbishment and extension)

· Peakhurst South Public School (Sheltered BBQ and kitchen facility)

· Bald Face Public School (Wheels for wellness)

· ASPECT South East Sydney School (Electronic sign)

· Oatley Public School (Sunsafe outdoor play area)

· Lugarno Public School (Student toilet block upgrades)

· Narwee Public School P&C Association (Upgrade of K-2 playground)

· Oatley Football Club - Carinya Public School oval (Lighting upgrades)

· Revival Life Centre (West Malinc repairs)

· St Aidan’s Church (Audio-visual equipment)

· Riverwood Air League (Improvements to Riverwood Squadron HQ) *Note, this is a joint-funded project between the electorates of Oatley and Lakemba.

“With 10 out of 13 grants going towards schools and education this year it is clear that schools are the biggest winner in today’s announcement of the Community Building Partnership program for 2020,” Mr Coure said.
