Local families living in the St George area are fighting for a direct school bus service to Aquinas Catholic College in Menai, with Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, echoing their calls.
This week, Mr Coure raised the issue in the NSW Parliament, lodging a Notice of Motion and putting questions directly to the Minister for Transport.
“Aquinas Catholic College is often the school of choice for so many families across South and Southwest of Sydney” Mr Coure said.
“But there’s one major problem. To date, there are no direct bus service from our local area to Aquinas. Parents and students are left juggling long, complicated trips to get to and from school.”
“Currently, students travelling from the St George area to Aquinas must take a combination of at least three different buses and trains, with journey times often totalling up to an hour.”
Mr Coure is calling on the Minister for Transport and Transport for NSW to provide a direct service and continue consultation with the school and local community.
“I am pleased to say that I recently met on-site with the Principal of Aquinas Catholic College, alongside representatives from Transport for New South Wales. This is positive progress and I look forward to Transport for NSW providing a suitable outcome.”
“This is an issue that a number of parents have raised with my office, and I have heard their frustrations loud and clear. I will keep fighting until we get a result.”
“Our kids deserve a simple, safe and reliable way to get to school, not a daily transport headache.”
