Local Early Childhood Educators Set to Benefit from Record Investment in Scholarships

Four aspiring early childhood teachers across our local area are set to receive a cash boost to complete their studies thanks to a NSW Government investment.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure welcomed the announcement as great news for our local early childhood educators.

“Every successful applicant will be awarded up to $25,000 and I am so pleased that the NSW Government is continuing to invest in our local early learning professionals.” Mr Coure said.

“This record investment into the early childhood education workforce will support the Government’s commitment to addressing workforce supply issues and build a sustainable pipeline of future early childhood teachers.”

Local early childhood teachers who will be receiving a scholarship include:

• Olga Maree Tsompas – Green Gables Kindergarten

• Isabella Sanzari – Oatley Red Bear

• Rosyanne Bellenger – Oasis Early Learning Centre

• Chelsea McGeachin – Kidzville Early Learning Centre

More than 18,000 prospective early childhood teachers and carers will be supported to enter the sector or boost their skills thanks to a $281.6 million workforce package in the NSW Government’s 2022/23 Budget

Premier Perrottet said, almost $11 million has been invested from the NSW 2022/23 Budget to deliver scholarships to support educators in entering the workforce or to boost their skills as degree qualified early childhood teachers.

“Early learning professionals are invaluable and we need more of them, which is why we are making a record investment in the early childhood education workforce.” Premier Perrottet said.
