Have your say on St George Hospital

The St George community is invited to have their say on the new $385 million Stage 3 redevelopment at St George Hospital which will provide enhanced health services and facilities for Sydney’s south.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, said the NSW Government fast-tracked the redevelopment as part of the State’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan, ensuring that the community is provided with state-of-the-art facilities sooner.

“This latest redevelopment will ensure St George Hospital has world-class facilities that the entire community can be proud,” Mr Coure said.

“The Stage 3 redevelopment will build on the success of previous redevelopments at St George Hospital and provide a new Integrated Ambulatory Care Precinct, which will bring together a range of services to meet the growing needs of the community.”

“The new facilities will be primarily used by outpatients visiting the hospital for a variety of procedures including blood transfusions, immune therapy, biopsies and medical imaging tests.

“The project team has already worked extensively with key clinical groups and we are now encouraging the wider community to provide their feedback about how we can best meet the health needs of the region. I encourage everyone to use this opportunity to learn more and ask the project team questions about this significant redevelopment,” Mr Coure said.

The Stage 3 Redevelopment includes:

· new precinct complete with an ambulatory care unit

· outpatient and day surgery services

· increased subacute inpatient beds

· a new day rehabilitation unit

· a hub for community health and home-based services

· enhanced diagnostic imaging (medical imaging and nuclear medicine)

The Stage 3 redevelopment builds on previous investments by the NSW Government that have delivered the new $41 million Emergency Department, $277 million Acute Services Building and $11.5 million Birthing Suite and Theatre Refurbishment.

Community members are encouraged to have their say via a short online survey and/or attend the virtual community information session at 10am, Friday 26 November 2021.
