Funding boost for St George Community Housing

As part of the latest round of the NSW Government’s Together Home program, St George Community Housing (SGCH) has received 40 housing places thanks to a $3.4 million funding injection.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, said that this funding injection would provide much needed housing and support to vulnerable individuals and families across the St George region.

“This funding boost will allow SGCH to expand their operations and provide greater assistance to people in need through housing and support services,” Mr Coure said.

“Together Home is a nation-leading program that has now provided a total of 80 housing places for SGCH since the program was rolled out in July 2020.”

Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services, Alister Henskens, said that Together Home was helping reduce rough sleeping across NSW.

“When these additional packages are fully allocated, more than 1,000 people will have been supported through the program,” Minister Henskens said.

“This builds on the work our Government has been doing to prevent and respond to homelessness, focusing on providing housing solutions for people most in need.”

SGCH Group CEO, Scott Langford, said Together Home provides vital investment for the people and communities we serve.

“I have seen first-hand the transformation when people are assisted from homelessness to being securely housed and supported with specialist services matched to their needs. We are delighted to be able to increase our impact with another 40 places funded in this latest announcement,” Mr Langford said.

Together Home is being delivered in partnership with community housing providers, like SGCH, to provide specialist homelessness services and healthcare agencies.

It involves securing housing for rough sleepers from the private rental market and connecting them to tailored support services to address their individual needs.
