COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN DELIVERS: THREE HOURS FREE PARKING FOR BEVERLY HILLS

Member for Oatley Mark Coure MP has welcomed the NSW Government’s decision to introduce up to three hours of free parking at the Edgbaston Road Park&Ride carpark in Beverly Hills, following his campaign calling for parking relief for local shoppers and small businesses.

Under the change announced by the Government, up to three hours of free parking will be available after 10am on weekdays and at any time on weekends.

Mr Coure said the announcement was a welcome win for Beverly Hills businesses and residents.

“This is exactly what we have been calling for since 2023 - three hours of free parking so locals can stop, shop, eat and support our Beverly Hills businesses,” Mr Coure said.

“I welcome the Government finally listening to our community and acting on the concerns we have raised.

“Parking has long been one of the biggest issues in the Beverly Hills shopping precinct, while at the same time spaces in the commuter carpark have not always been fully utilised."

“We made the case that it simply didn’t make sense to have parking spaces available while charging customers who wanted to visit our local shops, cafés and restaurants. “

"Three hours free after 10am on weekdays and on weekends strikes a much better balance between providing parking for commuters and opening up available spaces for the local community. “

"This will make it easier for people to visit Beverly Hills, spend locally and support the small businesses that are the backbone of our shopping precinct."

“I want to thank the local businesses and residents who spoke up and supported our call for change. “When our community raises its voice, we can get results."

“I’m pleased the Government has adopted our proposal, and I’ll continue working to ensure Beverly Hills gets the investment and support our local businesses and residents deserve.”
