$411 million Stage 3 upgrade to St George Hospital now complete!

Over many years, St George Hospital has undergone a significant redevelopment, with more than $740 million invested since 2011, including $411 million for the brand-new Ambulatory Care building, which is now complete.

Stage 3 will bring key outpatient services together, expand pathology, pharmacy and infusion services, deliver more beds, provide specialist aged care and cognitive transition units, whilst also providing more parking for staff, patients and their families.

Our long-term investments have delivered modern facilities, which will allow for improved services and better, more timely and specialised care for patients across the St George area and beyond.

As your local Member, I have been proud to work closely with hospital staff, clinicians and locals to plan, fund and deliver these vital upgrades for our growing community.

The completion of these works builds on our strong track record of delivery:

Stage 1 delivered a $41 million new emergency department, an upgraded hydrotherapy pool and $11.5 million for the refurbishment of Birthing Suites and theatres, improving maternity services for local families.

Stage 2 of the St George Hospital redevelopment was completed six months early in October 2017, delivering an eight-level Acute Services Building with additional inpatient beds, new intensive care and high dependency units, a cardiac catheterisation unit, a new helipad, and eight digital and interventional operating theatres.

St George Hospital has been caring for our community for generations, and with this investment, we are ensuring that it continues to do so for generations to come.
